What We Learned at the 2019 Summer Wholesaler Shows

The team at RxSafe knows that the pharmaceutical industry is constantly changing, creating new challenges for independent pharmacy owners nationwide. We believe that tradeshows provide an opportunity to learn meaningful tips and tricks from leaders in the industry, and we always come back with important takeaways to share with our customers. This year, RxSafe had the opportunity to attend the Cardinal RBC and Amerisource ThoughtSpot tradeshows. Here's a quick recap of what we learned.

Cardinal RBC 2019

This year, Cardinal RBC put on a lively conference in the beautiful city of Nashville, Tennessee. The four-day event showcased a music festival, a night full of comedy with Darci Lynne and Wayne Brady, and a fun interactive kids camp. Some of the main topics covered at Cardinal RBC 2019 include:

  1. Strengthening staff relations: a pharmacy is only able to run with the support of its staff. Maintaining positive relationships with staff helps improve productivity and overall pharmacy performance.
  2. Patient convenience: with the introduction of programs such as medication synchronization, pharmacists are benefiting from convenience packaging and a greater number of patients are complying with treatment plans and improving their health.
  3. Focusing on the bottom line: with audits and fees, pharmacy owners recognize how critical it is to analyze their financial success and set goals. Investing for retirement and the future requires time and dedication from pharmacy owners.

Amerisource ThoughtSpot 2019

As many attendees were anticipating, AmerisourceBergen Corp. (ABC) and Good Neighbor Pharmacy revealed new ways for pharmacy owners to connect with patients at the ThoughtSpot 2019 tradeshow, which took place in Las Vegas.  ABC unveiled a new digital marketing service to help pharmacy owners differentiate their drugstore from their competition by improving their online presence. The service allows pharmacists to track and manage their “digital footprint” easily, all on a single dashboard. A main takeaway of the show was Google Paid Search, which allows pharmacists to become one of the top local results when a customer uses the search engine. Essentially, it allows pharmacies to pay to be placed at the top of the results page, with the goal of creating new customers. During the four-day event, ThoughtSpot also hosted the second annual “Women in Pharmacy” networking event, which was a highlight for many of the attendees.

The Biggest Takeaway?

After attending both tradeshows and networking with hundreds of professionals in the pharmaceutical industry, our team found a common conversation topic:  medication adherence. It's no surprise that many pharmacy owners are choosing to incorporate technology to facilitate medication adherence, and choosing to improve the quality of their patient care, while staying one step ahead of the competition. Both RBC and ABC gave RxSafe the opportunity to show off our strip packaging system, RapidPakRx™. The only system designed specifically for retail pharmacy, RapidPakRx includes built-in vision inspection that helps pharmacy owners grow their customer base as well as provide a faster way to fill a high volume of compliance-packaged meds. With the RapidPakRx, pharmacy owners can dramatically cut down the time it takes to fill and verify pouches manually.
