BlistAssist Now Dispill Compatible

RxSafe is pleased to announce that BlistAssist™, an innovative software-driven solution that improves the manual preparation and verification of single- or multi-med blister cards, is now compatible with Dispill® Multi-Dose Packaging cards.

Just last month, RxSafe announced a partnership with McKesson Canada to introduce BlistAssist to the US retail pharmacy market. The product is designed to speed up the tedious and time consuming card filling and verification process, while improving accuracy and patient safety.

“We’re excited to offer BlistAssist’s expanded capabilities,” says William Holmes, President & CEO of RxSafe. “Now with Dispill compatibility, BlistAssist offers unparalleled accuracy, traceability, and security that helps pharmacists quickly verify their patients’ drugs, improving safety and medication adherence.”

Dispill medication adherence

Offered exclusively through Cardinal Health, Dispill Multi-dose Packaging is a safer, easier way for pharmacies to help patients adhere to their medication schedules. It’s a patented system that lets pharmacists provide prescribed medication to patients in an all-inclusive blister pack.

Dispill by Cardinal HealthDispill eliminates the need for pillboxes and single-dose bingo cards, which in turn decreases the risk of patients mixing up medication or forgetting the time of day they have to take them. And, each cell is perforated, making it easy for patients to take them on the go.

Dispill is ideal for patients with multi-dose requirements, alternate or long-term care sites, or patients with over-the-counter (OTC) regimens, such as fitness or dietary supplements. The blister cells can hold up to 28 days of morning, noon, evening and bedtime doses and a printed label with personalized instructions. This helps give your highest-risk patients a way to ensure they are taking the right medication and the right dose at the right time.

A proven solution for medication adherence

BlistAssist is a proven solution to help address medication adherence. Medication non-adherence leads to 125,000 preventable deaths and over $300 billion in avoidable healthcare costs each year, according to the Journal of Managed Care Pharmacy.

The societal costs of medication non-adherence, from patient safety to negative health outcomes to lost productivity, are staggering. BlistAssist is a game changer for any pharmacy using blister card adherence programs, allowing them to better serve patients with chronic health needs and/or multiple medications.

In addition to helping pharmacy technicians fill blister cards more quickly and accurately, BlistAssist is also a huge time-saver for pharmacists performing verification. The system incorporates a unique, patented “layer-by-layer” verification process, which simplifies and accelerates verification. Pharmacists have the flexibility to conduct final verification remotely from their computer or mobile device.

BlistAssist also takes up very little space, easily fitting on top of a small table or desk, and is compatible with most commonly used blister cards. For more information, visit our product page, view frequently asked questions, or speak with an RxSafe automation expert today at 877-797-2332.
